Where Rome is a historical hot-pot, Florence, Firenze in Italian, is like stepping back into a Fiat and Vespa-filled Renaissance. Unforgettables, like the shop-lined Ponte Vecchio, the trademark Duomo, the gem-filled Uffizi Gallery, the turreted Piazza della Signoria and the Medici Chapels, are all within walking distance of each other.

Florence consists of cute little cobbled stone streets that open up into magnificient piazzas.

The Piazza della Signoria was at the hub of Florence's political life through the centuries. With its famous group of sculptures it looks a lot like an outdoor sculpture gallery. Tthe bronze statue of a rider on horseback is Cosimo I.

Next to it is the statue of Neptune, the Fontana di Nettuno.
