North America Bengali Convention

This July 4th weekend was a blast. We, at Atlanta, hosted the North American Bengali Convention. Three days of cultural extravaganza.

But that's not important.

Envision this. About ten young people, women in saris and guys in kurtas, sitting in a bar at downtown Atlanta, till four in the morning, singing Bengali songs and dancing, with buddies from India, US and UK, who we met for the first time just hours ago.

Culture is a personal experience. It's what you do when no one's looking.

That is important.
